So, I guess I'm doing this thing called private practice now! I know I know...it feels a bit crazy, but here we go.

Hi, my name is Malory Larson, and I'm a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). I've been in the nursing field for over 20 years now (yes, I am that old), and have grown so much as a nurse in that time. I first started working as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at local nursing homes. During that time, I was finishing high school at Waukon Senior High and later attended nursing school at Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) and graduated with my associate degree in nursing (ADN) in December 2010. Fun fact: I applied to the nursing program at the end of my junior year of high school because I knew there was a long waitlist for the program. Nursing school was one of the hardest things I've ever done, and I even took a 2-year break because I wasn't sure I was cut out to be a nurse. However, I was still working in healthcare 2 years later, so went back to finish my nursing degree, and boy am I glad I did!

I later graduated from Upper Iowa University with my bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) in August 2013. After graduating with my BSN, I worked on a 30-bed inpatient behavioral health unit for six (6) years while obtaining my master's degree in nursing (MSN) from Walden University in November 2019. I still work some inpatient hours, which truly think helps keep my skills and knowledge fresh.

For the four (4) years before starting Wellful Psychiatry, I had been working at a small rural clinic where I was able to refine my skills as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and become more comfortable managing people's health care.

I am so beyond thankful for my past experiences in nursing, but I'm even more thrilled to provide individualized evidence-based mental health treatment to my hometown community. I will listen, respect, value, and support you through your journey. You're not alone. Let's do this!
